Pure white flowers (spathes) of Asian skunk cabbage (mizubasho) cover the wetlands of an alder forest. As the snow melts, they sprout and visitors can take a leisurely stroll along wooden boardwalks, feeling the spring sunlight filtering through the trees and the sound of the stream. Depending on the timing, zazen-so (Asian skunk cabbage), katakuri (dogtooth violet), and mountain cherries may also bloom together, creating a charming ensemble of flowers.
