Kono Park was built in 1846 (Koka 3) as a villa for Saga feudal lord Nabeshima Naomasa. Known as Kono-no-Ochaya, it is now a place of relaxation for citizens featuring an amusement park, zoo, and famous cherry blossom viewing spot. The park also contains a bronze statue of Eto Shinpei, who was active alongside Saigo Takamori from the late Edo to early Meiji period. When the cherry trees turn pink, many people visit to feel the arrival of spring.
