Daigoji Temple is registered as a World Heritage Site as one of the 'Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto'. As the name 'Hana no Daigo' (Flower Daigo) suggests, it is famous for its cherry blossoms, and is also known for the lavish 'Daigo Cherry Blossom Viewing' held by Taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Beginning with the Kawazu cherries that start blooming at Kenshin Rin'en during the spring equinox, various cherries including weeping cherries, Somei Yoshino, mountain cherries, and double-blossom cherries bloom in glory.
