Tsuruma Park is the first park established by Nagoya City in 1909 (Meiji 42). It is loved by citizens as a famous spot for flowers such as cherry blossoms, roses, and Japanese irises, as well as a green and relaxing place, and a place for sports and recreation. In 1956, 200 cherry trees were planted to create a cherry blossom spot, and now about 750 trees in Sakura Forest, Tatsugaike Pond, and other areas delight visitors (designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots).
