Around 1895, the 15th-generation Kita Zenbei brought back seeds from Kenrokuen Garden and planted them, creating a cherry tree now over 130 years old. It is a type of Edo Higan cherry, also known as 'Itozakura.' The Kamiyamada area has many descendant trees of the Kita family's weeping cherry, and in spring, the surrounding houses bustle with cherry blossoms. The Kita family's weeping cherry is also designated as a Natural Monument of Kahoku City.
