Echizen Ono Castle, which is closed in winter from December to March, will open from March 20 (Fri), the Spring Equinox Day. Echizen Ono Castle is a hill-top castle built on Kameyama in the Ono Basin. It was built by Kanamori Nagachika, one of Oda Nobunaga's generals, taking 4 years from the 4th year of Tensho, and the castle town was developed at the foot. The current donjon was rebuilt in 1968 and displays relics of successive lords inside the castle. In spring, cherry blossoms color Kameyama, allowing visitors to enjoy them together with the castle.
