Hiratakinu Park, the festival venue, has had cherry trees planted since around 1975. Over more than 30 years, approximately 1,000 Somei Yoshino, yae-zakura (double cherry), and weeping cherry trees have come to bloom beautifully. Every year, 'Tsugaru City Spring Festival' is held for two days in late April, featuring stage events, food stalls, and a craft fair.
