Members of the Nisei-kai, young members of the Hanakawa Central Shopping Street Association in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, have been decorating about 650 meters of the street along Ishikari Hanakawa Minami 3-chome, where member stores line up, with illuminations since 2000. Since 2017, they have started year-round lighting. Although the scale is not large, handmade heart-shaped illuminations warmly welcome shoppers.
