An ancient temple of the Kegon school, said to be named Obitoke-dera because in the early Heian period, Emperor Montoku's childless empress Fujiwara Akirakeiko prayed and safely delivered Emperor Seiwa. There is a large Somei Yoshino cherry tree - though not many, it harmonizes with the temple's historic buildings and 13-tiered tower, allowing you to enjoy a calm and tasteful landscape.
