Tsuba (sword guards) are a type of sword fitting that protects the hand holding the sword. From the Muromachi period onward, tsuba with diverse designs incorporating metalworking techniques such as gold inlay and openwork carving beyond practical use were made. This exhibition introduces the museum's collection of tsuba, centered on items handed down from the Ii family.
