Fujigawachi Gorge, located within the Sobo-Katamuki Quasi-National Park, originates at Mt. Natsuki on the border of Oita and Miyazaki Prefectures and stretches about 8 kilometers. The spectacular scenery, carved over many years by the Kuwabaru River through a massive single slab of granite, is truly breathtaking. In autumn, the autumn leaves gradually spread to cover the valley, reflected on the water's surface, and a walk of about one hour along the promenade leads to the 77-meter-high Ohi-taki Falls and Kannon Falls. Nearby there are campsites and hot springs using mineral springs, where visitors can bathe while enjoying the magnificent scenery. From late October, maples, sawtooth oaks, zelkova, and other trees begin to change color, with the best viewing period from late October to late November.
