An azalea festival held at Yutoku Inari Shrine to coincide with the peak blooming of azaleas at Higashiyama Park, a famous azalea spot in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture. At the foot of the mountain, wisteria blooms on trellises; at the flower garden on the mountain top, rapeseed flowers are in full bloom; and in the Japanese garden within the shrine, peonies and Japanese iris are at their best, all viewable together with the azaleas. During the period, various events are held including a garden plant market where trees, bonsai, and gardening materials are sold, and a sketch contest where visitors draw azalea pictures on paper distributed in front of the shrine gathering hall.
