An exhibition approaching the essence of Zen of Myoshinji, which has about 3,400 branch temples and became the largest sect in the Rinzai school. Commemorating the 650th death anniversary of the high priest Juō Sōhitsu (Bimyō Daishi), who organized and laid the foundation of early Myoshinji, the exhibition displays the history of Myoshinji, large folding screens known as "Myoshinji Byōbu" such as Kano Sanraku's "Dragon and Tiger Screens" and Kaihō Yūshō's "Flower Screens," and normally private temple treasures handed down at temples of the Myoshinji school in local Osaka. The latest results of temple treasure research are also introduced.
