Wakuya Cherry Blossom Festival is held at Shiroyama Park and other locations. The cherry trees at Shiroyama Park and along the Eai River embankment are mainly old Somei Yoshino trees, and other varieties such as weeping cherry, mountain cherry, and Taizan-Fukun also bloom, making it a famous cherry blossom spot where you can enjoy strolling worth a thousand pieces of gold on a spring evening. During the festival period, night cherry blossom illumination, the 76th Tohoku Banba (Draft Horse) Competition, flea market, exchange market, fortune mochi-throwing and other events are held.
