One of Aso's agricultural rites, also called Gozenmukae, this is the marriage ceremony of the deity Kunitatsu-no-kami. At dusk on the Aso Shrine approach, to welcome and celebrate the palanquin of the goddess, torches bundled from cogon grass are lit and swung around. The multiple rings of fire create a solemn and fantastical atmosphere.
