In Sayama City, Japanese sweet shops were scattered from the Meiji era, and in the Showa era, Japanese and Western sweets chains and factories of major confectionery makers advanced into the area, making sweets a familiar presence to citizens. This exhibition introduces the history of sweets in Sayama City and surrounding areas, focusing on collected materials, and provides an overview of ancient sweeteners such as amazura-sen and the flow of Japanese sweets culture. Nostalgic packages and prizes from major manufacturers, chocolate materials, craft sweets, and untold stories of long-established shops in the city are also exhibited.
