The Aso Lantern Festival was created as a new festival to carry on the lessons and memories of the April 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake. Under the theme of 'Lights of Recovery Lit Together with Citizens,' visitors are warmly welcomed with the glow of lanterns. The warm light of lanterns, lit alongside people's heartfelt wishes, gently illuminates spring in Aso.
