A summer festival of Yasaka Shrine in the Shishikui area, said to be one of Japan's Three Gion Festivals. On the 16th, evening stalls and dedicated fireworks are held; on the 17th, after the grand festival ceremony, traditional performing arts, and mochi throwing, a mikoshi (portable shrine), four magnificent floats called danjiri, and beautifully decorated warships parade through the town.
