Nanakoshimine, at an elevation of 260m, offers a panoramic view of the Hongu village below. The view from Nanakoshimine in spring is exceptionally beautiful, and through the pale pink cherry blossoms, you can see the large torii gate of the former site of Kumano Hongu Taisha surrounded by forest. About 800 Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry trees (from mid-March), as well as the Kumano cherry, recognized as a new species in 2018 (from early March), can be enjoyed. The cherry blossoms of Nanakoshimine are also fantastical when viewed from the Hongu side across the Kumano River, with the large torii gate in the background.
