The wisteria festival at Kichijoji Temple in Fukuoka Prefecture, held in conjunction with the anniversary of the founding of Jodo Sect's second patriarch, Chinzei Shonin. The wisteria flowers usually reach their peak from mid to late April, with three Noda wisteria trees about 170 years old designated as preserved trees by Kitakyushu City, along with white wisteria, red wisteria, and fuchi-beni wisteria, colorfully adorning an approximately 1,000-square-meter wisteria trellis. During the event, the Kichijo Taiko drumming, which began about 20 years ago and has become an established local traditional performing art, is performed.
