Certified as one of "Japan's 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots," a cherry tunnel forms along 2 kilometers of the Hiikawa levee—the leading cherry blossom spot in the Chugoku region. The 800 cherry trees are impressive. To protect this scenery, Unnan City has assigned "Sakura Mori" (cherry guardian), a specialized cherry care occupation, working on protecting old trees over 80 years old and new cultivation.
