The memorial ceremony for the Kannon deity is called the kaishiki. For this ceremony, a procession reenacting the tale of Anchin and Kiyohime takes place. A procession featuring a giant serpent crosses the Hidaka River, parades through the town, arrives at the gate of Dojoji Temple, rushes up the stone steps, and circles the main hall. Finally, the serpent coils around the hanging bell, spews fire, and reenacts the burning of the bell.
