Former Saga Imperial Palace Mt. Daihonzan Daikaku-ji Temple, whose predecessor was the detached palace of Emperor Saga in the Heian period. On the east side of the precincts spreads Osawa Pond, Japan's oldest artificial garden pond, offering a scenery unchanged for 1,200 years. About 150 plum trees are planted in the "Plum Grove" on the north side of Osawa Pond. A beautiful scene of the Heart Sutra Treasure Pagoda with white and red plum blossoms unfolds. *Eating and drinking are prohibited throughout the precincts.
