Beautiful weeping cherry trees add spring color to the historic Kumano Hongu Taisha. Also, about 500m away at the former site 'Oyunohara', about 100 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom proudly. From Oyunohara, you can also see the cherry blossoms spreading across Nanakoshimine on the opposite bank across the Kumano River. Seeing the cherry blossoms blooming here and there along the road to Hongu is also a delightful part of the journey.
