Every year on the fourth Sunday of April, a ceremony honoring En no Ozunu, the founder of Ise-Sanjo established in 701 CE (Taiho 1st year), is held. On this day, the doors of the Iwaya Main Hall on the mountainside are opened, and at the foot of the mountain a goma-taki (sacred fire ceremony) burning goma wood inscribed with wishes and hi-watari (fire walking) are performed. Many worshippers pray for household safety, freedom from illness, and business prosperity.
