The oldest cherry tree remaining in Sakura-sanri, known for its rows of cherry trees. In 1687 (Kyoho 4), Yano Goroemon, a Matsuyama domain samurai (commonly known as Genta), planted cherry trees along the Nakayama River. Two cherry trees, estimated to be over 300 years old, were named 'Genta-zakura.' The species is Edohigan-zakura, blooming earlier than other cherries in spring. With trunk diameters of 2.88m and 2.15m and heights of 17m for both, they show vigorous growth. Many tourists visit every year to catch a glimpse of these majestic trees firmly rooted in the ground.
