「いぶすき菜の花マラソン大会」は、日本で一番早いフルマラソン公認コースの市民マラソン。また、今回も約12kmのファンランニングを同時開催する。市民総出の応援やぜんざい・ふかし芋などでランナーをおもてなし。九州最大の湖の「池田湖」や薩摩富士とも称される「開聞岳」を眺めながら、満開の菜の花が咲くコースを走る。走った後は、名物「砂むし温泉」などで疲れを癒すこともでき、1日で指宿を満喫できるイベント。
