'Gaisen Sakura' was planted in 1906 on both sides of the post-town highway to commemorate the victory in the Russo-Japanese War. The wonderful tunnel of cherry tree avenue with about 130 cherries blooming together every 5.5m is a scenery representative of spring in Shinjo Village. The bloom is late even in the prefecture, and many people visit seeking the remnants of spring. On both sides of the avenue are waterways where water always flows gently, and the soft sound has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Soundscapes and Top 100 Fragrant Landscapes.
