Shogun-bai is a city-designated natural monument, originating from when Prince Kaneyoshi confronted 60,000 troops led by the Otomo at the Chikugo Oharano. He set up camp here and planted a red plum tree by hand. The highlight on the day of the festival is the children's sumo by children from the Miyanojin school district (around 13:00), and a memorial service for the war dead of the school district (around 10:00) is also held. The Shogun-bai blooms with late-blooming flowers from early March, making it a famous spring spot.
