The Lilac Festival is held in conjunction with the lilac blooming season, with lilac designated as Sapporo's city tree in 1960. At Odori Park, where about 400 lilac trees bloom in splendor, there are experience corners for parents and children to enjoy traditional games and portrait drawing, a wine garden serving over 200 varieties of Hokkaido wine, and Lila Terrace where you can enjoy live music and gourmet food. At Kawashimo Park, where more than 200 varieties of lilac are planted, a stamp rally to tour the lilac forest and sale of lilac seedlings are held.
