Kotohira Shrine in Kawanoishi is known as a cherry blossom spot, and in spring, Yoshino cherry blossoms planted along the stone steps leading to Kotohira Shrine form a cherry tunnel. Within the park, there is the Chureito (Loyal Souls Tower) enshrining the spirits of fallen soldiers, and a haiku monument of haiku poet Akao Kio.
