Ryujo Park was created by developing the ruins of Otawara Castle, built in 1545 by Suketake Otawara. Cherry trees are planted on the plaza of the honmaru ruins, and every year from late March to mid-April, about 300 Yoshino cherry blossoms and others reach their peak. In spring, azaleas are also magnificent. From March 28 (Sat) to April 19 (Sun), 2026, the "Otawara City Cherry Blossom Festival" will be held. During the festival period from March 28 (Sat) to April 12 (Sun), lighting will also be done, allowing night cherry blossom viewing.
