Senshu Park, located in the heart of Akita City, is a charming blend of history and nature built on the ruins of Kubota Castle, once the seat of the Akita clan lord Satake. About 630 cherry trees including Somei-yoshino, yaezakura, shidare-zakura, Jindai-akebono, and Omura-zakura bloom in the park. The view from the castle tower observation deck overlooking cherry blossoms and the castle ruins is spectacular. The moat surrounding the park reflects the blossoms beautifully, making it a popular photography spot.
