A park built on parts of the main bailey and second bailey of Tsuchiura Castle, said to have been constructed in the late Muromachi period. It was named after its alias 'Kijo' (Turtle Castle), as the castle ramparts appeared to be a turtle floating on water. The yagura gate is the only remaining example of castle architecture in the Kanto region, and the park is a citizen's relaxation spot featuring lawn plazas and play equipment. About 50 Yoshino cherry trees in the park create a beautiful harmony with the turret and moat. During the Tsuchiura Cherry Blossom Festival, Kijo Park will feature lantern decorations and light-ups from 18:00 to 22:00.
