The spring festival of Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture, started right after the Great East Japan Earthquake to encourage town residents, marks its 15th year. With a wide variety of food trucks at vending, special corners for processed products of silver salmon—of which Onagawa Town boasts Japan's largest production—children's air play equipment, and stage events by idols and singers, various plans are prepared. In 2026, the course of the traditional event 'Tsunami Memorial Onagawa Fukko-Otoko,' planned to pass on the basics of tsunami evacuation to future generations, will be changed.
