The Somei-yoshino cherry trees on the Hinokinaigawa embankment in Semboku City were planted in 1934 to commemorate the birth of the current Emperor Emeritus. In spring, a lush cherry blossom tunnel stretches approximately 2 km along the left bank embankment, welcoming visitors. The blossoms unfold along the gently meandering river, said to spread like a tunnel of cherry-pink color. In 1990, together with the weeping cherry trees of the Samurai District, it was selected among the '100 Best Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Japan.' The view of the cherry blossom avenue from Yokocho Bridge is spectacular.
