This large weeping cherry tree—over 300 years old, with a trunk circumference of 3.5 m and a height of 10 m—is said to have been planted by Lord Tokugawa Mitsukuni. He is said to have composed a waka poem with the meaning 'Even if transplanted elsewhere, do not take root.' It is currently a designated natural monument of Ibaraki Prefecture (designated in 2005), and the Kutsukaketoge Mountain Cherry Group is also nearby. Enjoy them together!
