The name 'Nido-zakura' (twice-blooming) does not mean it blooms twice a year, but refers to the fact that buds appear at the center as the outer petals are at full bloom, and the inner buds open as the outer petals fade. On a single tree, different branches display single, double, and two-tiered blooms — a rare cherry of academic significance. Flowers range from white to light pink to deep pink, painting the town of Ono in vivid color. It is also selected in the 'Hida-Mino 33 Sakura' collection.
