Yamanokami Shrine is enshrined near the summit of Mt. Taira. The cherry trees planted along the approach are called the 'Yamanokami Thousand Cherry Trees,' added to existing ones along the mountain road from the approach entrance to the shrine over about 3 years starting from 1965. Blooming in sequence from foot to summit up the long, steep slope, gathered together like a dragon ascending to heaven, this scene has been selected as one of Yamanashi Prefecture's 100 Famous Flowers. Also, the view of Yatsugatake and the Southern Alps from the summit is breathtaking!
