Uwajima City has observed Japan's earliest cherry blossom blooming declaration many times, with the reference tree standing in Maruyama Park. Currently, since the Uwajima Weather Station has become unmanned, observation is no longer possible, but Uwajima City asked a JMA OB who has long been involved in cherry blossom observation to be a "Cherry Blossom Observer," and unique blooming declarations continue even now.
