From the museum's collection, we introduce tenugui (hand towels) featuring attractive figures such as actor prints produced in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. People of every era have overlapped their ideals of the perfect person onto such images and felt their hearts flutter. The "handsome men" inspired by works of different eras and themes have been expressed in diverse forms on tenugui. In this exhibition, through such designs, we reexamine the "beauty" and "ideal figures" reflected by eras and cultures.
