Nagoya Castle was built as a base for Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea. With approximately 170,000 square meters of grounds, it was the second largest after Osaka Castle. Today, visitors can see the tenshudai (donjon platform), the ruins of the main palace, and the main gate ruins. About 400 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom within the castle grounds from late March to early April, attracting many hanami visitors.
