A fighting festival where portable shrines are crashed together to pray for a bountiful harvest. Two mikoshi portable shrines, carried by young men from the Oshiage and Teramachi districts, collide and grapple with each other about 10 times while circling the grounds of Amatsu Shrine. Finally, both sides charge from designated positions to determine the winner. After the mikoshi event, Gagaku court music and dance—designated as one of Japan's Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties—is dedicated, and the shrine grounds transform from a dynamic to a serene atmosphere.
