This weeping cherry tree is said to have been planted when the first lord of the Nihonmatsu Domain, Niwa Mitsushige, arrived in 1643. With a base circumference of 2.7m, trunk girth of 3.0m, and height of about 9m, it splits into two branches 2.8m above the ground, with small branches cascading beautifully. Designated as a natural monument of Nihonmatsu City.
