This is the former site of Odate Castle, the seat of the Satake West clan. The structures were lost in the Boshin War, but a remaining moat section evokes the past. About 140 Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom in spring, drawing many visitors. This is the main venue for the annual Odate Cherry Blossom Festival.
