A major event rare nationwide with over half a century of history. It began in 1958 as a flower-viewing entertainment by the cart horse union. Set on the approx. 1,500m coastline of Terushima Beach at the northern end of Fukiage Beach, one of Japan's Three Great Sand Dunes, the event features humorous races where horses charge into dunes or splash into the sea, plus elegant thoroughbred races. A local product fair is also held.
