津軽富士とも称される岩木山は青森県最高峰の標高1624メートルを誇り、日本百名山にも選ばれている名峰だ。9月下旬から山肌が赤や黄色で鮮やかに色づき、日を追うごとにそれが麓へと移っていく。山頂の初雪の白と麓のオオヤマザクラの真っ赤な紅葉、老松の緑は見事なコントラストを見せてくれる。見頃は例年10月中旬。
