One of the three great cherry blossom spots in Saga Prefecture, where 5,000 cherry trees bloom in profusion, attracting many hanami visitors in spring. It was also the first place in Kyushu where cherry blossoms were illuminated. Built on the site of Kashima Castle, the park is said to have begun when the feudal lord planted cherry trees and held cherry blossom viewing banquets. The grounds, which retain traces of that time, are selected as one of Japan's 100 Historic Parks.
