At Rakuhodo Maebashi Park, built on the site of Maebashi Castle, about 350 cherry trees bloom in profusion during the flowering season. The cherry trees planted on the earthen ramparts that are the remains of Maebashi Castle were planted thanks to donations from Zentaro Shimomura, the first mayor of Maebashi, to make this a famous cherry blossom spot. The magnificent rows of Somei Yoshino cherry trees soothe those who visit. This year, evening cherry blossom illumination is planned for late March to early April.
