The 'Mikuni Festival,' a Fukui Prefectural-designated Intangible Folk Cultural Property, is a grand ceremonial event held at Mikuni Shrine from the Miyabiraki ceremony on May 15 through the post-festival on May 21. Six warrior doll floats standing up to 6.5 meters tall parade through the streets, and the sight of them pushing through the crowds on narrow roads is worth seeing. A festival that evokes the prosperity and spirit of the port town of Mikuni, nurtured by the Sea of Japan.
